Working in the Field?

Grounded support for research, exploration, and professional fieldwork.

Field access is earned — not sold

Desert & River is built on long-term relationships, local knowledge, and a deep respect for land and community. If your work brings you into the field — whether in research, documentation, or exploration — we can discuss what support is appropriate, and what is realistically possible.

We operate with a permission-first mindset. Not everything can or should be accessed, and part of our role is helping you navigate that reality with clarity and care.

Who we work with

  • Researchers and academics
  • Geologists and environmental specialists
  • Archaeologists and historians
  • Documentary and expedition teams
  • Professionals working with land, culture, or heritage

How we can support you

  • Local logistics planning (routes, terrain, timing, resupply)
  • Field safety and conservative risk management
  • Guidance on access, permits, and realistic expectations
  • Connection with local communities where appropriate
  • Low-impact travel design and responsible field practices

Our boundaries

  • No unpermitted access or “access-for-sale” behaviour
  • No sharing of sensitive or protected locations
  • No rushed, tourism-style approaches to field environments

All activity must comply with Egyptian regulations, permits, and local permissions. We prioritise the protection of land, heritage, and relationships above all else.
